Grampian Autistic Society Welcomes a New CEO

At the beginning of March, Grampian Autistic Society (GAS) entered a new era with the appointment of Billy Alexander as our new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Billy comes to us with over fifteen years’ experience in the Third Sector, having started as a therapeutic Support Worker in his late teens.

After several years doing variety of jobs within and outwith the Care Sector, and training to be and practicing as a Paralegal, Billy returned to the Third Sector, where he gained rapid promotion whilst completing various courses, and gaining valuable experience with organisations such as: SFAD where he led services for those affected by a loved one’s drug or substance abuse related death. His last role was with Who Cares? Scotland, where he led a team of Independent Advocates and Development Workers across Central Scotland working with Care Experienced People and their families.

This is his first CEO role, however, Billy shows great passion and drive for all that he does, and has direct experience of Autism Spectrum Conditions, having advocated on behalf of his nephew, who he describes as ‘inspirational’. Billy comes to us full of ideas and enthusiasm, as well as a determination to expand our services into Aberdeenshire and Moray, in order to reach as many individuals and families as possible, who need our support. We look forward to working with Billy for many years to come.
