Meeting with MSP at GAS premises

We were delighted to welcome Alexander Burnett, MSP to our offices today. Alex is Deputy Convener on the Scottish Parliament’s Cross-Party Group on Autism.

We had wide ranging discussions including:

Employment – the importance of both employer understanding of Autism and provision of Autism- specific support where required.

Diagnosis – the difficulties of accessing a timely diagnosis and plans to address this.

Education – the ongoing issues experienced by many families when children on the spectrum are excluded from school.

Support – the challenge of reductions in council funded support.

After concluding the discussions, Alex was also able to meet and chat to more of our staff and service users and had a tour of our premises.

We look forward to further conversations in the future!
